In addition to Dr. Rosenkranz and Dr. Whiting the following constitute the Board of Directors:
Jeffrey W. Bird, M.D. is a Managing Director of Sutter Hill Ventures focusing on healthcare, including biotechnology and medical devices. Dr. Bird was previously Senior Vice President, Business Operations at Gilead Sciences. He holds a BS from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology and a M.D. from Stanford Medical School.
Michael Fitzgerald specializes in the provision of international banking and corporate legal services to clients in Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Since 1987 he has acted as a consultant to and director of a number of companies. Mr. Fitzgerald was chairman and co-founder of Gemini Genomics plc, which was acquired by Sequenom, Inc. He is admitted as a barrister in England and Wales, a barrister and solicitor in Victoria, and a solicitor in New South Wales.
Jim Katzman is currently a private investor in high technology companies. Between 1968 and 1974, he served in various positions at Amdahl and Hewlett Packard before co-founding Tandem Computers Inc. in 1974. Following the sale of Tandem to Compaq, he became a Special Limited Partner of Technology Venture Investors (TVI), serving as a Director for eight different technology start-up companies. Mr. Katzman received his engineering degree from Purdue University and a masters degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
Gary Petersmeyer has spent 24 years in the pharmaceutical and medical industries, most recently as President and COO of Pherin Pharmaceuticals. Prior to that he was President and CEO of Collagen Corporation. Previously he held a variety of Senior Executive positions at Syntex, Betaphase, and Coopervision. He holds a B.A from Stanford University and a M.B.A from Harvard University.
Julian Stern has been Secretary and General Counsel of ROXRO PHARMA since its incorporation. For the past thirty years, Mr. Stern has focused his practice on high-technology and health-related companies. Mr. Stern is a past Chair of Heller Ehrman and served on its executive committee for more than 20 years. Mr. Stern was the incorporator of ALZA Corporation, Affymax, Cetus, A.P. Pharma, Inc. and Maxygen, Inc. Mr. Stern is a graduate of New York University and has his law degree from Yale Law School.
James Tananbaum, M.D. is a Managing Director of Prospect Venture Partners. During the last decade, Dr. Tananbaum has helped found and lead financings for numerous biotechnology, pharmaceutical and healthcare service companies. Most recently, Dr. Tananbaum helped found and/or led investments for Prospect in Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, PatientCare, Predicant, Comphealth, Nanosys, Vanda Pharmaceuticals and Vitae Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Tananbaum was also the founder of two successful biotechnology companies – GelTex and Theravance. Dr. Tananbaum received his undergraduate degree and B.S.E.E. from Yale University, an MD and MBA from Harvard.
