On May 4, Google’s Danny Sullivan confirmed that they are rolling out the second core search algorithm update this year. It is called the “May 2020 Core Update.” Yeah you heard it right.

What Happened in the Google May 2020 Core Update?


Join Whitney as she goes over what we DO know about Google’s most recent core algorithm update. The update began rolling out on May 4th and finished roughly two weeks after. By looking at search volatility, we can see there were major spikes around May 5th and a smaller one on May 20th.

Many publishers have been affected by the Google update, some for worse and some for better. The update is supposed to continue to help local news publishers gain better ranking, amongst other categories. Some publishers are seeing decreases in ranking and traffic.
